Yosemite National Park Twin Bridges Hike

While visiting Yosemite National Park, we were on the search for short easy hikes. The goal was minimum hiking with maximum beauty. This hike did not disappoint.

Twin Bridges hike Location

The Twin Bridges hike is located in the Tuolumne Meadows area of Yosemite. Not all the maps will have it listed because it is the beginning of the John Muir Trail.

Map of Tuolumne Meadows

The trail begins at the John Muir trailhead. You won’t see Twin Bridges listed on the sign as you enter the trail but don’t worry, you are at the right place.

The trail will travel along a river that will fill your senses. Dip your toes in the water as your eyes fill with breathtaking views. Record the water rushing over the rocks and play it back for the best nap ever!

As you stroll along the trail, you will come to the first bridge. This is not your final destination so, cross the bridge and continue on the path. Just after the bridge, you will come to a fork. Turn right at the sign below. We were worried we turned the wrong way because we were walking away from the river. But we just kept going, and thank goodness we did!

The view around the twin bridges is a feast for the eyes. The short hike is so worth the spectacular views! It has it all…towering MOUNTAINS watching over everyone, a rushing RIVER just waiting for you to splash around, and bright green grass dancing in MEADOW.

Yosemite Trail Rating: Easy

Phil’s Trail Rating: Easy, meandering trail. 1 knee

Phil is due for a knee replacement so, he is rated the hike based on his pain scale. 1 knee is easiest and 5 knees are the most difficult. The reality is he should avoid 5 knees and maybe even 4 knees.

Twin Bridges Trail recommendations

This is the perfect place for a picnic. The easy, short walk opens to a beautiful meadow just screaming for a checkered blanket, bottle of wine, and charcuterie tray! When we return to Yosemite, I will make this happen, and if Phil is lucky, he can take a little nap! Talk about a beautiful, relaxing day.

Enjoy the hike!
