Rv Gift Ideas

It can be hard to find the perfect gift for someone living in an RV full time. We all know the struggle with finding places to store everything. So today, we are giving some practical gift ideas for RVers.

1. Give an experience

When you give an experience, you are really gifting a memory. The options here are endless. Find out where your favorite RVer is headed and you can find the perfect experience along the way. We have listed a few ideas for your below.

2. RV education

An RV course is a valuable gift for every RVer! Courses cover everything from choosing an RV to RV troubleshooting, maintenance, electrical and more. Choose from home study courses or hands on classes.

  • RV Driving School - These classes are designed to make you more confident and safe on the road. You will learn behind the wheel of your own RV to ensure you have the knowledge and training you need to arrive safely at your next destination.

  • RV Masterclass - This platform has many RV course topics. RV experts share the best tips about purchasing your RV, transitioning to full-time in your RV, boondocking, and more.

  • Basic RV Knowledge & Maintenance - You can gain as much knowledge as you choose when it comes to basic RV knowledge and maintenance. Learn how the RV refrigerator, air conditioner, water heater, and furnace operates and how to maintain them for proper performance, and expectations of an RV. Want more? Continue on and become an RV technician or an RV Inspector.

  • NRVTA Home Study - Can’t make it to the classroom? This option is perfect! The home study course will guide you through five main RV systems including electrical, propane, water, exterior, and appliances. Learn to troubleshoot and prevents problems with your RV. You will save time and money!

3. Memberships

Memberships give the RVer wonderful new experiences and allow the opportunity to meet new people. Memberships also can save money on camping.

  • Harvest Host - Stay overnight at over 2800 businesses such as farms, museums, attractions, golf courses, breweries, and wineries. It is a great way to experience new places and meet people along the way. Save 15% with code YOUMERV.

  • Boondockers Welcome - Stay up to 5 nights on private property all over the country. This is one of our favorite memberships. We have met some amazing people and have been lucky to stay on a beautiful property. Some of the hosts will have at least partial hookups but there is no guarantee. Save 15% with code YOUMERV.

  • RV Trip Wizard - This is one of my favorite RV memberships. I have been using it since I hit the road and I can’t imagine moving in any direction without it. RVT keeps all my trips organized and helps me find campgrounds. It is now included within the RV Life Pro bundle so the price also includes an RV Maintenance tracker, RV Safe GPS, RV Life Pro app, campground reviews, and more. This is a gift I would give to myself! Save 25% with code YOUMERV.

  • Passport America - This is a membership that will help you save money on camping costs. We have used it a few times and it can be helpful.

  • Escapees RV Club - We have been escapees members since we hit the road. Membership allows you to sign up for events across the country. We attended the Bash in 2019 and a Hangout in Keen, NH. We had a great time at both and met some wonderful people along the way.

  • Family Motor Coach Association - This membership also allows you to join events across the country. What I like best about this membership is the FMCA medical emergency and travel assist program. Use the link to learn more.

  • Streaming Services - Everyone seems to be streaming movies and TV these days. Gift a year of streaming on a platform for your favorite RVer.

4. RV Safe GPS

It is so essential for RVers to use RV safe GPS routing based on the size and weight of their specific RV. There are many safe routing options.

  • RV Life app (annual membership) - This app allows you to enter the dimensions of your RV in order to have safe RV routing. It will avoid U-turns, bridges, tunnels, and other areas that your RV can not navigate safely. This is a bundle and includes other features such as RV Trip Wizard for the ultimate in trip planning. Save 25% with code YOUMERV.

  • CoPilot app (annual membership) - This app allows you to download maps of the country regionally and uses your RVs dimensions to safely choose your route. We used this app when we were caravanning with our friends Al and Angie.

  • Garmin GPS - We use our Garmin every time we take Ruby anywhere! I prefer to have my phone free so I don’t typically use an app for routing. I also like the voice commands and some of the other features of our Garmin.

5. RV safety devices

We have a few safety devices we recommend for every RVer. It is easy to find out what Safety devices your favorite RVer is missing and wrap it up for them! Our must have safety items are below.

  • RV Emergency magnet - If you had to call 911 and provide the address of your campground right now could you do it? I am lucky if I remember our site number, much less the address. The RV emergency contact magnet will make sure you can quickly provide this important information to emergency responders. Delayed emergency care has happened to many RVers because they could not remember their location during an emergency. Don’t let it happen to you.

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System - TPMS can increase your safety on the road by improving your vehicle's handling, decrease tire wear, reduce braking distance which will also increase overall fuel economy. The TPMS will notify you if your vehicle's tire pressure is low or flat and help you maintain proper tire pressure.

  • GasStop - GasStop will instantly and automatically shut-off the supply of propane in the event of a major leak or regulator failure reducing the risk of a propane fire. Save 5% on amazon with code GSBA2024B.

  • Extra fire extinguishers for the RV and tow vehicles - We learned after stopping to help a fellow RVer with a tow car fire that you can not have too many fire extinguishers in your RV. One is not enough!

  • Electrical Management System Surge Protector - An external EMS will allow you to know the status of the pedestal before you plug in your RV. This can prevent damage to your electrical system if the pedestal is faulty. It will also protect the RV from power surges and power issues that could cause a fire. This device can save you thousands in repairs by preventing your appliances and RV electrical system from bad pedestal power.

  • Govee - This device is what we use to monitor the temperature in the RV. Always knowing the temp in the RV is important because of Gizmo, our 14 year old dog. The device uses wifi and an app to allow you to keep an eye on the RV’s temp. For more pet info for RVers head to RV Pet Safety: Keep Them Happy and Healthy with These Simple Tips.
