I am finally sharing my secret Mexican Martini Recipe! After living in San Antonio for a few years my love of margaritas has definitely changed. I went from a syrupy sweet margarita drinker and evolved to this yummy salty version. It is delicious! So much better than a mix from a bottle! Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Mexican Martini Ingredients

I always prefer to use what is on hand before I go out and buy more ingredients. So let's talk about what is easily interchangeable and what will change the flavor of the Mexican Martini.

Reposado Tequila

Of course, you can use what the tequila you have on hand but I think the Reposado Tequila does make a difference in the flavor of this yummy drink. If you are able, pick up a bottle and keep it on hand for this recipe.

Cointreau

Cointreau is my orange liqueur of choice for this drink. I have also tried Grand Marnier and it was not bad. You can see in the picture above I have Harlequin Orange Liqueur but I will not use it again in the future. It was on sale so I thought I would give it a try. That was a mistake!

Olives

Which olive you use is totally up to you! I prefer jalapeno stuffed olives because they are delicious! Phil is a tender mouth and hates jalapenos. So I always have regular olives and jalapeno olives on hand.

Olive brine

Olive Brine

Olive brine is another ingredient that can make or break the mexican martini. My favorite brine is the one by Stirrings but you can find it everywhere. Of course you can also just pour the brine from your olive jar but that will disappear much faster than the olives!

Cocktail shaker

Shaker

Toss all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Give it a good shake and you are ready to sip on the best margarita you will ever taste! You will never use mix again after this.

Martini glass rimmed with salt

salt

If you like salt on the rim of your margaritas add it to the martini. There is plenty of salt in the olive brine so I dont always add it.

Quartered limes

Lime

Fresh lime is ALWAYS best! Fresh will make a huge difference in the drink. I almost always use fresh lime but sometimes I don't have them on hand. As you can see today I had to use the concentrate!

Sharing is Caring. Please, feel free to share this picture on Pinterest.

Mexican Martini Recipe

If the Mexican Martini is too strong reduce the Reposado Tequila to 1.5 oz and Cointreau to ¾ oz. You can also add an extra splash of orange juice and sprite which is what I usually do.

margaritas-ing-150x150.jpeg
  • 2 oz Reposado Tequila

  • 1 oz Cointreau

  • 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime (Fresh makes all the difference!)

  • 1 oz Orange Juice (Fresh squeezed or pulp free)

  • 1 oz Olive Brine

  • 1 oz Sprite or 7 up

  • 2 each Jalapeno Stuffed Olives (Substitute green olives if you are not a fan of jalapenos)

  • Margarita Salt

  • Ice

Cut a lime wedge and add it to the rim of your glass. Use the lime to moisten the rim. If you are adding margarita salt dip the top of the glass in now. Add a few ice cubes and olives to the glass and set aside. Put ice in a shaker. Add the remaining ingredients to the shaker and give it a good shake. Pour the Mexican martini over your ice and olives. Enjoy!
