Yosemite National Park lembert dome Hike

This is currently our favorite hike at Yosemite National Park. The views from the top of Lembert Dome can not be beaten! Typically we search for easy hikes with big rewards like Yosemite’s Twin Bridges and Olmsted Point due to Phil’s chronic knee pain. He is limited in his ability to hike any trail rated higher than easy. But he really wanted to give this one a go!

The peek of Lembert Dome will provide breathtaking views of Tuolumne Meadows and the Cathedral Mountain Range and a scattering of other beautiful mountains.

lembert dome Location

Lembert Dome is located off Tioga Road between the Tuolumne Meadows Visitors Center and Tuolumne Meadows Lodge Road. There are two parking areas for the Lembert Dome hike. The first lot is located on Tioga Road just in front of the dome called the Lembert Dome Parking Area. It is currently closed for construction but parking is also available along the side of Tioga road. The second parking area is Dog Lake Parking which is located on Tuolumne Meadows Lodge Road.

The Lembert Dome hike has two trail options.

Trail A: This trail begins at the Lembert Dome Parking area. It is longer than trail B but not as steep. It is 2 miles from the trailhead to the top of the dome.

Trail B: This trail begins at the Dog Lake Parking area. This trail is shorter and much steeper than trail A with quite a few switchbacks. It is 1 mile from the trailhead to the top of the dome.

lembert dome recommendations

Bring a backpack full of our favorite charcuterie. It is a lovely place for a picnic. Plan to spend time relaxing along the bank of May Lake. It’s a great place for a nap! Also, do not hike the slipper granite when its raining or during thunderstorms.

Enjoy the hike!
