So, picture this: we just spent an entire month living it up in a beautiful Italian villa. And oh boy, let me tell you, the daily views were absolutely mind-blowing! Now, brace yourselves because I'm about to spill the beans on the best parts of our sweet Italian villa.

Location

Italy is a large country divided into diverse regions, each with its own history, dialect, unique vibes, and way of life. When deciding which areas of Italy to explore, be sure to keep that in mind. You will even notice distinctly different foods in each region. I know what you are thinking: spaghetti is spaghetti, right? Not so much.

Just imagine how different the culture, vibe, and food selection are in Boston, Atlanta, San Antonio, and Louisiana. Hop from one to another and brace yourself for a breathtakingly different experience each time. It's like that in Italy, too! So, when planning your Italian adventure, remember that different regions mean entirely different vacations.

We chose the region of Campania in southern Italy. This region includes the Amalfi coast, Sorrento, and Naples, and our villa was in the center of it all.

Distance to surrounding cities

  • Massa Lubrense - 10 minute walk

  • Sorrento - 20 minutes

  • Capri - 20 minutes to ferry (Sorrento)

  • Positano - 40 minutes

  • Pompeii - 1 hour

  • Amalfi - 1.5 hours

  • Naples - 1.5 hours

  • Rome - 3.5 hours

Villa Louisa, Massa Lubrense, Italy

We lucked out with Villa Louisa! This cozy 3 bedroom, 3 bath beauty plopped right in the heart of a quiet Italian neighborhood. Our mission? To soak up as much authentic Italian culture as humanly possible. We wanted to live amongst the locals, stroll to the market, and exchange friendly waves with our neighbors. And guess what? Villa Louisa made all our dreams come true.

Our other must haves included

  • Equipped kitchen to cook meals at home.

  • Washing machine so we can do laundry and pack less.

  • Wifi to allow us to work while in Italy.

  • Public transportation within walking distance.

You can see a complete walkthrough of the villa in our video below.

Cost of our italian villa

We were lucky enough to embark on this journey with our friends Scott and Christina - splitting the cost of the villa and transportation expenses. We even hoped for a third couple to join us, further reducing the price. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts got in the way.

When renting an Airbnb or VRBO, you can score amazing deals by opting for weekly or monthly rentals, especially during the off-season. Take advantage of these money-saving opportunities and make your dream vacation a reality. Italy awaits!

There are a multitude of factors that determine the going rate of a villa in Italy. Location, size, and season are just a few.

Villa Louisa rental

  • 30-Day Rental Total with fees/VAT $5207.15

  • Our portion $2603.58

  • Daily rate $83.99 per night

Italian Villa bonus

We hit the jackpot when we booked this villa! It turns out Anna, the owner, is not just a fabulous host but also a travel agent! How lucky are we? She went above and beyond by recommending and booking a few tours for us and even helped sort out transportation. Plus, she hooked us up with the best local restaurants and more! Anna was an absolute superstar and made our stay even more incredible.

If you are planning to travel to the Amalfi coast and would like help planning from a local, reach out to Anna. She is a fantastic resource and will help you plan the perfect trip even if you don’t rent the villa!
