According to the Washington Post, gas prices are expected to exceed $5 a gallon this summer. If you haven’t started using Gas apps, now is the time to try them. Gas apps will save you money at the pump. With prices climbing higher than they have been in 30 years, every little bit will help. Below are some of the best gas savings apps available in your app store.

**Please note: The routing in these apps is not safe for all RVs. Please use RV safe GPS routing for larger RVs.

Gas Buddy logo

GasBuddy

GasBuddy has been around since 2000 and has over 90 million downloads. To check fuel prices, type a zip code into the app, and the prices will pop up in that area. The fuel prices are populated by users and gas stations. Although the prices are not accurate 100% of the time, it’s generally trustworthy. The app also offers filters by gas brand, location, and price. You can also set up alerts for daily deals and price hikes.

GasBuddy also has a discount gas card. It connects to your checking account and is currently offering up to 25 cents off a gallon at the pump. Do a lot of driving? You may want to consider their premium gas card. It costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year. It will guarantee at least 20 cents off per gallon for up to 50 gallons a month. But the savings could be as high as 40 cents per gallon.

Gas Guru logo

Gas Guru

Gas Guru is a free app owned by the yellow pages. It was launched in 2012. Gas Guru will display gas prices in your area and allows you to filter by price, fuel grade, and distance from you. Unlike Gas Buddy, the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) populated the data, so the information is more reliable.

Waze logo

Waze

Waze was founded in 2006 and has been owned by Google since 2013. This popular app has over 140 million active users. This app will show all the gas stations near you with the price per gallon. The prices are crowdsourced, and it is not the main focus of Waze, so they may not always be accurate.

Mapquest logo

MapQuest

MapQuest is another app that will populate fuel prices along your route. It was launched in 1996, and it’s easy to use. You can filter by fuel grade and find the cheapest fuel in your area.

getUpside

The GetUpside app gives you cashback on purchases at participating gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. This app has over 45,000 participating gas stations. According to the website, GetUpside can save you up to 25 cents a gallon. This app requires access to your bank account but will require you to take pictures of your receipt and put it in the app after each fill-up. Your cashback is deposited via PayPal, a check, or a digital gift card. GetUpside charges a fee for PayPal payouts less than $15 and checks less than $50.

BPme Rewards logo

BPme Rewards

BPme Rewards is a good option if you frequent BP gas stations. Sign up for free for another chance to save. You will save 5 cents a gallon during your first month. After that, you will need to spend at least $100 a month to see savings. With gas over $5 a gallon, it won’t take much to hit that minimum. BPme Rewards also compares prices at nearby competitor stations and will price match up to 5 cents a gallon. You will need to join their membership to receive price matching. It starts at .99 cents a month.

GOOGLE MAPS

Google Maps will allow you to search for gas by price, brand, and distance. A cool feature of Google Maps is eco-friendly routing, which will show you the most fuel-efficient route. We do not recommend Google Maps for safe RV GPS if you are a large RV, but it is perfect for TOADs. Google Maps is also crowdsourced, so prices may not always be accurate.
