Ruby at gas station

East coast diesel inventories plunged to the lowest seasonal level since government records started more than 30 years ago. The shortage sent wholesale and retail diesel prices to an all-time high. According to the Washington Post, diesel is more expensive in the US today than it was in 2008.

Need apps to save on gas? We have a blog for that too!

APPS TO FIND THE BEST DIESEL PRICES

Open Roads logo

OPEN ROADS RV Savings Program

We have been using the Open Roads RV fuel program for years. It's a free RV discount program that has saved us up to 75 cents per gallon. Currently, we save an average of 30-40 cents per gallon. For more info on the Open Roads program, head to the TSD OPEN ROADS FUEL SAVINGS CARD blog or CLICK HERE to start saving on fill-ups.

Open Roads negotiates with truck stops all over the country for fuel discounts for RVers. You can see the regular price and the discounted price on the app before deciding where to stop. Price updates are made several times a day to the app. Prices are not crowdsourced so they are more accurate than the other apps.

Trucker Path

The Trucker Path app's main goal is to provide truck-safe GPS routing. But it also provides filters to find diesel prices at chain and independent truck stops. The app has more than a million users, which is helpful since prices are crowdsourced. Instead of zip codes, this app uses GPS tracking. You can also filter for fuel wait times, overnight parking, CAT scales, truck washes, etc.

DAT Trucker

DAT Trucker app is also a truck route planner. It allows you to view fueling prices up to 100 miles from your current location. It has filters for diesel prices, weigh stations, parking spaces, and wait time is also provided.

Jack Reports logo

Jack Reports

Jack Reports is an all-in-one trucking maps app that shows diesel prices at major truck stops. It also shows parking availability, weigh stations, and more.

Fuel book logo

Fuelbook

Fuelbook shows diesel prices at major truck stops. This app updates fuel prices six times a day, making it reliable. You can also filter by diesel price before tax and other filters.

Truck Mater Fuel Finder logo

Truck Master

Truck Master is an app and website. It offers one of the most comprehensive search functions of any tool available, with over 7,500 truck stops. It provides fuel prices as well as truck stop amenities. Prices are updated daily.

Gas Buddy logo

GasBuddy

Although most people don't think about using GasBuddy for diesel fuel, it is a good option. If you are already using it for your TOAD, it's an excellent option for diesel. This app has been around for over 10 years and has over 90 million users. You can search diesel prices by zip code or city. Prices are crowdsourced, so they are not always accurate. Also, the app does not state if the gas stations are big rig friendly.
